The Youth Innovation Challenge encourages youth (ages 10–30) to identify local problems and develop innovative technology-driven solutions. The program fosters creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills, helping participants turn ideas into actionable projects that can benefit communities and potentially grow into sustainable ventures.
Objectives
- To inspire youth to identify and solve local problems using technology and innovation.
- To develop critical thinking, creativity, and project management skills among participants.
- To provide mentorship, resources, and incubation support for promising ideas.
- To promote collaboration and networking among youth innovators.
- To showcase youth innovation for community impact and potential funding opportunities.
Key activities
Innovation Ideation Workshops
- Brainstorming sessions on local challenges and potential solutions
- Training on design thinking, problem identification, and solution mapping
- Group formation and team-building exercises
Project Development & Prototyping
- Hands-on mentorship to develop prototypes or digital solutions
- Use of coding, digital tools, or media production for solution creation
- Pilot testing within local communities or schools
Competition & Showcase
- Annual competition to present projects to a panel of judges
- Evaluation based on innovation, feasibility, impact, and presentation
- Recognition, awards, and potential seed funding for top projects
Incubation & Support
- Continued mentorship for winning or promising projects
- Assistance with accessing grants, internships, or partnership opportunities
- Opportunities to scale solutions and implement them in local communities
Who it's for
Primary: Youth aged 10–30 in rural and underdeveloped areas. Secondary: Youth in towns with limited access to innovation resources.
